Shiplifts, Slipways and Floating Docks

Royal Haskoning has undertaken many shipyard projects which have included the installation or refurbishment of shiplifts, slipways and floating docks. These docking facilities respresent alternative methods of providing access to vessels' hulls and are sometimes provided to supplement, or replace, the traditional drydock (or graving dock).

The firm frequently prepares feasibility studies and option studies, in which various types of docking facility are considered to provide the optimum docking solution, usually in conjunction with a transfer facility and a number of dry berths. Slipways are often provided as an economic solution to enable smaller vessels to be winched out of the water. Floating docks are frequently installed as a first stage docking solution, or to supplement existing drydocks, within a shipyard.

Royal Haskoning has, over many years, carried out studies, planning and detailed design of all such docking facilities, including associated civil works.
