Jurong Shipyard, Singapore, No.3 Dock - Flap Gate 'During Stepping'
This large ‘box’ type flap gate (12.9m high), is for the 80m wide dry dock for vessels up to 400,000 dwt. The total structural weight is 977 tons. The width of the gate was restricted to 5m to suit the configuration of the dock entrance. The gate is operated by two hydraulic winches, one on each side of the dock entrance and can be operated by one winch if required. The photograph shows the gate being manoeuvred into the dock entrance for installation. |
